Multi-strand (MS) Wire rod is a finished product in a steel plant rolled from the billet of the MS wire rod mill. The steel for MS wire rods is produced by both the steelmaking processes namely the basic oxygen steelmaking, and the electric furnace steelmaking.
MS wiring is more flexible and less susceptible for cracking and metal fatigue than single-stranded conductors. The increased surface area of multi-stranded conductors decreases the amount of resistance encountered by the currents or signals passing through the wire.

- GI pipe is manufactured with ordinary steel applied in a poll of molten zinc while MS pipe is manufactured by mixing ordinary steel with chromium ion molten state.
